Building the Village: Ecosystems of Care & the Sisterhood of Motherhood

Anushka Kalyanpur DeLuca - Founder of Nannies & More

Recently, Reshma Saujani — one of my personal sheroes — shared something that resonated deeply:
“Motherhood is often missing from feminism and the fight for gender equity.”
It struck me because it’s true:
Motherhood can often feel isolated, invisible, and unsupported — when in fact, it should feel like sisterhood: interconnected, valued, and strengthened by community.
When we think about early parenthood, it’s easy to focus on individual services — a nanny, a lactation consultant, a pediatrician.

But the real magic happens when these supports are interconnected — when mothers, fathers, and families are held by a living, breathing ecosystem of care.
At Nanniesandmoreuae, that’s the vision we are proud to build:
Not just offering services, but weaving families into a network of emotional, physical, and professional support during some of their most transformative years.
As a founder and a mother of three under three, I have lived how vital these ecosystems are — and how life-changing it is when motherhood is fully centered within them.

I’m especially inspired by the communities that are nurturing women who are committed to being present, excellent mothers — while also remaining driven, ambitious, and purpose-led, whether they are working outside the home or not.
Motherhood and ambition are not opposites. Presence and purpose can live together.

I’m so grateful to be part of a vibrant and growing network here in Dubai — alongside communities and family-first, values-driven brands like Crunchmoms (founded by the brilliant Julie Nguyen Liying Tay), TwinsPlus Arabia (run by the most supportive doula Lala & Suman Manning, The Child Unplugged (Hannah Pierce), Little IA (Roshni Khemlani Mehta, Mamahood (Alina Polyakova), empowering tribe (the visionary Christine Assouad) @cafespark (AI community for mums founded by Abha Malpani Naismith), Lisa (Lullabies), Emma (Next of Kin), Dr. Rania from Circle Care, It Takes a Village (Raya Halet)Helena Taylor Clinic, Kings College Hospital, Genesis, Mamahub, The Family Hub, The Family Hub, Helen Farmer, Nikki (Scottish Soul Sister), Allie Brisco, Brit Collective and so many others — who are shaping a future where families are supported not individually, but collectively.

Because thriving families aren’t built in isolation.

They are built in connection. In community. In sisterhood.

Here’s to building the village — and the sisterhood — that every family deserves. 💛

👉 If you’re part of a community supporting families — or dreaming of building one — I’d love to connect, learn, and collaborate. Let’s keep growing this ecosystem of care, together.
